Among contemporary design outdoor collections, today’s choice is Paola Lenti’s new Outdoor range.
The AMI collection consists of sofas, armchairs and chairs – playing with light, blending shade and tone, and surprising us with the bright colours and textures of their new fabric.
The entire collection is by Francesco Rota, a famous interior designer from Milan. He works in collaboration with important interior design brands such as Knoll, Arketipo, Mercedes Benz and Versus, among others. He has been awarded two ‘Compasso d’Oro’ honourable mentions and has taken part in several international design exhibitions.
We tried the AMI Armchair for you, to see how it could work in real life. Its structure and base is stainless steel with a satin finish. The armchair, equipped with a fixed seat made of expanded polyurethane, is treated to be water repellent and has a removable seat cushion.
The structured upholstery is hand-woven and seat cushion covers are available in Luz, Rope T or Brio fabrics, suitable for outdoors. One or more loose cushions are necessary to complete the seat. A protective Winter Set cover is also available; however the coatings for the outdoor version are all water resistant anyway. They combine soft cushions with braided ropes, reminiscent of sailors’ knots. The manual execution helps make each piece unique.
Available in two versions: Light striped fabric, the same important and luxurious style featured across the collection or woven with a silicone profile covered with Aquatech yarn, which is less bulky and looks more familiar. We prefer the latter, since it makes the chair more casual and practical.
The seat is quite comfortable, although the high back and armrests don’t actually allow your arms to rest! We also like the idea of mixing the armchair with poufs from the same line. The piece blends material resistance, a requirement of an Outdoor Line, with the creativity of home interior design – and could be brought inside during winter.
